My Look – Fashions Night Out 2012

| September 8, 2012 | 1 Comment More

Fashions Night Out is one of my favorite nights of the year. Fashions Night Out started as Vogue editors Anna Wintour’s push to help retailers during the 2009 recession and has since spread to 18 countries, with 4,500 events nationwide? Pretty amazing! In Chicago, a town not always recognized for being fashion forward, it’s a great night for people who love fashion to get together, shop, get great deals and come together as a community. I highly recommend checking it out in your city next year. Think it’s not in your area? Don’t be so sure. Many malls even have events, and it’s a great way to get your area, big or small, out shopping and excited about fashion.

My favorite part? Getting dressed. This year I had some amazing tribal print leggings from my favorite local Chicago retailer, Akira , that I couldn’t wait to try out. The key with sporting this trend in your late 20′s and 30′s is to tone down the rest of your look, and I took a cue from Kim Kardashian when creating  my look. You don’t want a busy print on the bottom and on top. Let the print do the talking, wear a long tank that covers a bit of your thighs , simple (ish) shoes and you’ve got in covered.

I’m a former fashion industry professional turned style consultant with a slight celeb obsession, and it all came together back in 2009 when I found Dina Manzo’s Alice & Olivia Ombre Rostte Dress was something I could have in my closet and noticed that Patti Stanger wore Express. I’m from Detroit and even though I live in Chicago now, don’t mess with me icon smile My Look Fashions Night Out 2012 . Happy reading.
