Why I love this look: I love a good cape look, whether it’s a blouse or dress. I think that—although it’s short on all 5″9 of me—this dress exudes a sophistication that works well in a variety of settings. And to me, pairing gold and navy is a no-brainer combo to rock whenever I can.
Where I wore it: These photos were shot at Montrose Harbor in Chicago. I wanted to represent a little bit of nautical style in a less obvious way. And while I would totally wear this to an event on a yacht or a boat, it’s SO perfect for a summer dinner on land or a cocktail party!
Inspiration: Really, it’s based off of other looks I’ve worn that I love (see my fave cape blouse here) and summer in Chicago on Lake Michigan—I mean we have no ocean, we take what we can get! While you wouldn’t catch me dead wearing some sort of goofy anchor around a boat, this look is dressy-nautical to me and I love it. And I love all of my jewelry, but the gold lariat is inspired by the sold out Rachel Zoe style she has forever been spotted in, but this in stock piece happens to be about $500 less than Rachel’s sold out style and is part of my Lauren Loves x T+J Designs collaboration.
